The Journey Has Just Begun

It has been exactly one month since the launch of the launch of Aluwa Skin Africa.

It’s almost unbelievable how quickly time went by. Let me start off by saying thank you for the love, the support, and the space you have given us to thrive. We would have never in our wildest dreams imagined how successful the launch would be!

As I reflect on that moment, I am in awe of the power walking in your purpose to serve humankind.

When Lerato and I started the company we both had to take off the societal masks of perfection, of smooth Instagram-ready skin and put on the real us. The real us, scars, imperfect as we are, had to come to the surface.

In our vulnerability, we were able to sit down and create a brand that we needed, a brand that would resonate with us so deeply that the story of its beginnings would inspire others to love their skin.

I’ve struggled with my skin for years and as a result, I have significant scarring which has textured my skin. 

For years I avoided make-up and any pictures that showcased my face, my personality was my biggest contribution to any group, and I was the resident photographer to avoid being the focus; thus, subjecting myself to questions and unsolicited advice. I hated it when anyone asked me questions as if I had not tried, as if I was not aware of how I looked.

Today, however, I type this with calmer skin, scarring and a renewed perspective. My skin is not perfect but, I love it. The wonderful range of serums has assisted me with hyperpigmentation, acne and even tone. I am still not where I’d like to be, but I’m far from where I was.

Aluwa Skin Africa is not just a brand, its an experience and a relationship that if nurtured, can thrive!

Ours is a legacy of impact. Ours is a skin journey that is filled with love.
